1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Mera Kharcha mobile application, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, you must stop using the app immediately.
2. Description of Service
Mera Kharcha is a smart finance tracking app that reads transaction-related SMS messages on your device to detect and track transactions across bank accounts, cards, UPI apps, and wallets. All SMS processing happens locally on your device and is never shared with anyone.
The app also provides features such as reminders, analytics, and device-based notifications using AlarmManager and WorkManager.
Mera Kharcha now offers an optional Default SMS App feature that allows you to manage all your text messages directly within the app. When enabled, you can send, receive, read, and manage SMS conversations alongside your expense tracking. All messaging data remains completely local on your device and is never uploaded, synced, or shared with any third party.
3. Permissions & Data Usage
To provide its services, Mera Kharcha requires the following permissions:
- SMS Permission: To read transaction-related messages for automatic expense tracking.
- Default SMS App Permission (Optional): To enable full messaging functionality including sending, receiving, and managing SMS conversations within the app.
- Contacts Permission (Optional): To display contact names in messaging threads and help you select recipients when composing messages.
- Notification & Alarm Permissions: To send reminders for bills, payments, and split-payment alerts.
All SMS messages, contacts, and financial data remain completely local on your device. We do not upload, sync, store, or share any of this information with our servers or any third party.

4. User Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate device time, date, and SMS permissions for correct expense tracking.
- Keep your device secure to protect your data.
- Use Mera Kharcha only for lawful and personal finance-related purposes.
- If using Mera Kharcha as your default SMS app, you are responsible for all messages sent through the app.
- You are solely responsible for decisions made based on the data shown by the app.
5. Default SMS App Feature
When you choose to set Mera Kharcha as your default SMS app:
- You can send and receive text messages through the app.
- All standard SMS features (read, compose, delete, search) will be available.
- Your messages and contacts remain completely local on your device.
- You can switch back to your previous default SMS app at any time through your device settings.
- Standard SMS and MMS charges from your carrier may apply.
Mera Kharcha does not have access to or control over your carrier's messaging services and is not responsible for SMS delivery failures, delays, or carrier charges.
6. Account & Data
Mera Kharcha uses Firebase Anonymous Sign-In to uniquely identify your device and secure your local data. Upon Gmail login, your anonymous account data is migrated to your Google-linked account so only you can access it.
You can delete your account and all associated data directly from the app at any time. Once deleted, all data is permanently removed and cannot be recovered.

7. Intellectual Property
The Mera Kharcha app, including its design, features, code, branding, and algorithms, is owned by Codex Collab and protected under applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, or redistribute any part of the app without written permission.
8. Limitation of Liability
Mera Kharcha is provided "as is" without any warranties. We are not responsible for:
- Any financial loss, inaccuracies, or decisions you make based on insights provided by the app.
- SMS delivery failures, delays, or issues caused by your carrier or network.
- Loss of messages or data due to device issues, uninstallation, or data deletion.
- Any damages arising from the use or inability to use the app.
9. Modifications
We may update these Terms & Conditions at any time. Updated terms will be displayed in the app. Continuing to use Mera Kharcha means you accept the updated terms.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms or misuse the app. You may also terminate your account at any time through the app by deleting your account and data.
