Mera Kharcha Is Going Worldwide

Updated October 23, 2026: updated to describe how Mera Kharcha works today.

When we built Mera Kharcha, we solved one specific problem: people in India had no easy way to see where their money was actually going. Bank apps showed balances. UPI apps showed transactions. But nothing connected the dots automatically, across all accounts, in one place.

The solution, making every payment quick to record and easy to see in one place, worked. And it turns out, the problem wasn't unique to India.

People in Lagos, Manila, Dhaka, Nairobi, and Dubai all get the same transaction SMS from their banks. They all juggle multiple payment methods. They all reach end-of-month wondering where it all went. The problem is universal. So today, so is Mera Kharcha.

Now Available Worldwide

Mera Kharcha is going worldwide. It started in 16 countries across South Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia. Now, wherever you live, you can track your spending in your own currency and your own language.

Wherever you are, you can download Mera Kharcha free on Android, with iPhone coming on 15 November, and track your spending in your own currency.

Why the World Needs It

The problem looks the same in almost every country: money moves through more apps and accounts than ever, and almost nobody sees the whole month in one place.

Most of the world is now mobile-first. People don't manage money on laptops with spreadsheets; they manage it on their phones, through banking apps, mobile wallets and payment alerts. That's where Mera Kharcha lives.

In every market, people juggle several payment methods and rarely see the whole month in one place. Mera Kharcha changes that.

What Makes Mera Kharcha Different From Every Other App

Most personal finance apps in these markets ask for one or more of the following: your bank login credentials, access to your account via open banking API, or manual transaction entry. Every one of these has a serious problem.

Giving an app your bank login is a security risk — plain and simple. Open banking APIs aren't available in most of the countries we've launched in. And manual entry? We already know how that ends. You do it for a week and then stop.

Mera Kharcha works differently. You record each payment in a few seconds, by typing or, with Premium, by speaking in your own language. In India, the optional Mera SMS app can also turn eligible payment messages into expenses. Outside India, SMS detection depends on whether your bank's message format is supported, so manual and voice entry are the reliable way to track.

No bank login. No spreadsheets. Your records sync to your account, so they're still there when you change phones.

The Problems We're Solving, Country by Country

The specific financial pain points look slightly different depending on where you are — but they all trace back to the same root cause: no visibility.

In Nigeria and Ghana, people often use several bank accounts and mobile money wallets at once. Mera Kharcha puts the spending from all of them in one view, in your own currency.

In Kenya and Tanzania, M-Pesa is central to daily life. Record M-Pesa spending alongside your bank account activity and see the month as one picture.

In Pakistan and Bangladesh, many people are paid in cash or by bank transfer and have little visibility into where it goes by month end. Mera Kharcha's charts and month summaries give a clear picture of spending patterns, many for the first time.

In Saudi Arabia and the UAE, expatriate workers, often sending money home, need to keep spending tight. Recording every expense and transfer in one place shows exactly what's left each month.

In Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines, digital wallet use is among the highest in the world. GoPay, GrabPay, Maya, MoMo: record payments from every wallet in one list and see where the money goes.

In Nepal and Sri Lanka, smartphone use is growing fast and people use several banks, with no single place to see it all. Mera Kharcha is that place, without asking for your banking passwords.

And the same goes for Europe, North America, Australia and everywhere else: if you pay with cards, apps and cash, the month is easy to lose track of.

Your Data Stays Yours — Everywhere

Going worldwide doesn't change our commitment to privacy. We don't ask for bank logins, we don't sell expense records or payment-message content, and you can delete your account at any time. The privacy policy explains what is stored and why.

Your records are stored on Mera Kharcha's servers so they follow you to a new phone, and deleting your account removes them. The same rules apply wherever you live.

Built for Everywhere

Here's what already works for people outside India:

  • Your own currency: track in the currency you choose.
  • 29 languages, including Arabic, Bahasa Indonesia, Swahili, Filipino and Vietnamese.
  • Bill reminders for rent, loans and subscriptions on your own schedule (Premium).
  • Voice entry in your own language: say what you spent and it's added (Premium).

Download Now — It's Free

Mera Kharcha is free to download on Android, with optional Premium. No bank login and no long setup: install it, choose your currency and language, and start recording.

Whether you're in Mumbai or Manila, Nairobi or Karachi, Lagos or Dubai — your money deserves better than guesswork.
